Day 3 of the Olympic Qualifier in Japan sees Poland play Switzerland in the opening match of the day, with Japan facing a revitalised Italy. The final match sees Germany playing Malaysia in what could be a highly entertaining encounter in Gifu.
Match 7: Poland v Switzerland – 13:00 (Local time)
With both teams having lost their first two games, a win here is vital if either team are to keep alive dreams of reaching the final. Switzerland were on the receiving end of a brilliant performance from Germany on Day 2, but will be aiming to bounce back in this match. Poland have played well at times in this tournament and are more than capable of securing a victory in this game.
Match 8: Japan v Italy – 15:00
Italy proved themselves to be more than a team just making up the numbers in their match against Malaysia, being extremely unlucky not to claim all three points. Malaysia appeared to under-estimate Italy, something that Japan will be keen to avoid in this match. Japan turned on the style against Poland on Day 2, winning the match 6-1, and will be hoping to make it three wins out of three today.
Match 9: Germany v Malaysia – 17:00
Malaysia will need to rediscover their form if they are going to have any chance of defeating the in form Germans. Despite defeating Poland on Day 1, Malaysia struggled against Italy on Day 2, needing a final second strike from Mohd Sharun Nabil ABDULLAH to a secure a 4-4 draw. There are no such problems for Germany however, and if they hit the form shown in their 10-0 demolition of Switzerland they will be a very difficult side to beat.
